Verdie Lee Payne Taylor, age 83, of Sutherlin, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Gretna Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Taylor was born on December 9, 1939, a daughter of the late Artis Payne and Hattie Bond Payne Overstreet. She was married to Clifford Clay Taylor who preceded her in death and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Janet Jones and Emory Taylor; grandchildren, Brandee Hancock, Chuck Taylor, Chad Taylor, Justin Taylor, Steven Taylor and Joshua Taylor; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and by several siblings.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Paul Taylor and by several siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Swicegood Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
