Virginia Mae Scearce peacefully departed this earth for her heavenly home on May 17, 2021. She was born August 9, 1927, to the late Leola Young Walton and Charlie Walton of Meadows of Dan, Virginia.
She married Richard S. Scearce in Martinsville, Virginia on April 2, 1949, together they raised nine children, farming tobacco, working in Dan River Mills during the winter months, and at Tudors Cold Storage while living on Vandola Road and later Mount Cross Road, Danville, Virginia.
She attended Pentecostal Holiness Church in the Westover area of Danville. She rededicated herself to Christ several years ago with a friend, both confirming their love of the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and children, Wanda Crumpton, Delvis Scearce, Benny Scearce, and Emma Scearce.
She is survived by her children, William Scearce (Tammy), Frances Wood (Kenny), Ann Bundy (Edward), Judi Weatherford (Darrell), Tammy Jordan (Bernie). Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
She loved her little dogs like children and spoiled them with treats and toys.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, staff, and medical professionals at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion shown to their mother.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 20th at 2PM at Swicegood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times the family will receive friends at her daughter, Tammy Jordan’s residence, 941 Oakwood Drive, Danville, Virginia 24541. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
