David Clifford Distad, age 70, of Danville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 16, 1945, in Hayfield, MN, to the late Clifford T. Distad and Evelyn Bauman Distad.

Mr. Distad worked at Owens-Illinois and as a consultant for Emhart Glass. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church where he served as Praise and Worship leader and a council member. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Most of his life was spent in the Danville area. Mr. Distad had been in declining health for the past 6 months. Also, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and husband to his high school sweetheart for 52 years.

He is survived by his wife, Karen K. Distad of the residence, son: Joe Distad and his wife Robin; daughter: Dawn Wells and her husband Tommy; grandchildren: David Distad, Morgan Distad, Thomas Wells, and Hunter Wells; and sisters: Janice Moore, Mary Trom, and Judith Perala.

In addition to his parents Mr. Distad was predeceased by his brother, John Distad.

A memorial service will be conducted Monday, April 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church with Rev. Meredith Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be private.
