Mr. Decatur Setliff, age 85, of 1121 Laurel Grove Road, Sutherlin, Va., passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Setliff was born on October 17, 1931 in Lunenburg County, VA to the late Robert Lee Setliff and Beulah Dix Setliff. He lived most of his life in Danville.  Mr. Setliff was employed by Westover Super Market and then the U.S. Postal Service.  He was a member of American Legion Post 325 and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 19.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during Korea.

Mr. Setliff is survived by his wife, Kittie Matkins Setliff, his daughters:  Janet Roberson (Dale) of Danville, Virginia, Sherry Pearson (Ronnie) of Dinwiddie, Virginia, and Wanda Setliff  (Richard) of Emerald Isle, North Carolina. He is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Setliff Keslar of Colonial Heights, Va.; five grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Setliff was predeceased by his sister, Vivian Setliff Ryan, and brothers Archie Setliff and Marion Setliff.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Reverend Daryl Joyce officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 1121 Laurel Grove Road in Sutherlin, VA. Interment will follow at the Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Danville Humane Society. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 1097.
