Mrs. Doris Marie Tutor Abbott, age 92, of, Danville, Va., passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016.

She was born on August 16, 1923, in Danville, Va., to the late Dredsel P. Tutor and Ellen Schott Ferrell, and raised by Edith Schott. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Abbott of Danville, Va.; brother, Franklin; and sister, Ann.

She is survived by her sons, Curt S. Abbott (Kristi) of Dry Fork, Va., and Christopher L. Abbott (Kathleen) of Chesapeake, Va.; daughter, Sylvia A. Hambrick (David) of Pelham, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Jody, Caitlin, Brian, Lauren, and Erin Abbott, Michele H. Pittard, and David Hambrick, II; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Zachry, Patrick, and Kerrie Beth Pittard; great-great-grandchild, Annabel Pittard; and brother, Harry.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Highland Burial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening, July 25, 2016, from 7  until 8:30 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel.
