Ethel Cash Richardson, age 88, of 2537 Franklin Tpk., Danville, VA, died on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

She was born on February 05, 1927, in Pittsylvania Co., VA, to the late Percy Garland “P. G.” Cash and Lessie Pruitt Cash.

Mrs. Richardson was a 1946 graduate of Schoolfield High School and a 1949 graduate of the Danville Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She served 40 plus years at Danville Memorial Hospital as a nurse, nursing instructor, and retired as a nursing supervisor in 1988.

She is survived by her son, Kurt Ashley Merchant and wife Carol of Martinsville, VA; daughter, Kristy Ellen Clay of Keeling, VA; grandsons: John Colin Merchant and wife Della of Wilmington, NC and Daniel Phillip Merchant of Philadelphia, PA; her cherished great-granddaughter, Maxine Cash Merchant of Wilmington, NC; sister, Rachel Chapman of Clarksville, VA; and nephews, Guy Walton and wife Cyndi of Lynchburg, VA and David Worrell of Danville, VA.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Richardson was predeceased by sister, Patricia Worrell and nephew, Michael Worrell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Spangenberg officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
