Harold Owen Snead, age 69, Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at his residence, with his family by his side.

He was born on September 15, 1947, in Danville, VA, to the late Tommie Lawson Snead Sr. and Carlethia “Connie” Garrett Snead.

Until his retirement, Mr. Snead worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber as an electrician and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and he was a graduate of Tunstall High School. Mr. Snead was raised in the Bachelor’s Hall Community.

He is survived by his son, David Snead and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Owen and Olivia Snead; sister, Linda Snead Cousins and husband Perry; and special companion, Alice Greene.

In addition to his parents Mr. Snead was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Wilson Snead; brother, Tommie Lawson Snead Jr.; and sisters, Vada Jo Snead and Sue Snead Salmons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Wiles and Rev. John Lester officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the funeral home. The family will receive family and friends at the residence. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 1097.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Commonwealth Home Nursing and Hospice Care, 159 Executive Dr # H, Danville, VA 24541.
