Ila Owen Haley went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2017.

Born in Climax, Virginia on March 28, 1926 to the late Henry W. Owen and Flossie Bailey Owen. She married the love of her life William Boyd Haley who predeceased her. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Cheek, husband Jimmy of Yanceyville, NC, Sandra Stone, husband Nelson of Danville, granddaughters, Lisa J. Greer of Danville, and Robin J. Hammond of Chicago, two grandsons, Brooks Bledsoe of Danville, and Derek Stone of Virginia Beach. A Great granddaughter Madisyn Bledsoe of Danville and one sister Doris Slayton of Virginia Beach and a special friend and neighbor Joanne Lunsford.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by two sisters and seven brothers.

She was a graduate of Chatham High School and after attending one year at Emory and Henry University she returned home to work for the Bell Telephone Company and later worked as bookkeeper for Rayless Department Store. She enjoyed traveling and taking care of her family. For the past three years she had been a resident at Roman Eagle Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff on the South Wing for the care she was given during that time.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers you may want to consider memorials to North Main Baptist Church or a charity of your choice in her memory.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2pm at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after the service.
