Mr. James Allen, age 90, of 2973 Inman Road, Danville, VA, died on October 31, 2017 at Riverside Healthcare.

He was born on March 27, 1927, in Blackwater, VA, to the late Hubert Allen and Dicie Willis Allen.

Mr. James Allen retired from the Weave Department of Dan River Mills after 35 years of service. He loved the Lord, his family and friends very much.

He is survived by his son, James S. Allen of Danville; daughter, Lawana Carol Allen Rigney,and husband, Thomas of Brosville; grandchildren, Karen Rigney Goard of Callands and Thomas David Rigney, II of Brosville; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Una Mae Wallen of Blackwater, VA, Lorena W. Creech of Blackwater, VA

In addition to his parents and wife, Elizabeth A. Allen, Mr. Allen was predeceased by sister, Sarah Kelly; brothers, Wheeler Allen, Dana Allen, and Ralph Allen.

Graveside  services will be conducted Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.  Sanders Family  Cemetery at 3281 Major Grahams Road, Max Meadows, VA,  with Pastor Gary Pierson officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6:00 – 7:30 P.M. at Barker Funeral Home chapel, Danville, VA.  At other times, the family will be at the residence of his daughter, Lawana Rigney, 2973 Inman Road, Danville, VA.
