James (Jim) Wilson Walton, 68, of Rockledge, FL, passed away on September 3, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Born in Danville, VA on September 11, 1946 he was the only son of Gideon Wilson Walton and Elizabeth Yeatts Walton who preceded him in death. Jim was a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eloise Kitchin Walton and their two sons, James Brett Walton and his wife Jen of Whitney, TX and Christopher Shannon Walton and his wife Haley of Boone, NC, one granddaughter, Peyton Elyse Walton of Boone, NC and two step grandsons Camp and Canon Coker of Whitney, TX.
Jim was a 1964 honor graduate and president of the senior student council of George Washington High School in Danville, VA. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Business Administration and a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma. After graduation, he honorably served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Jim was employed as Manager of Financial Consolidation for Dibrell Brothers Tobacco Company in Danville, VA for 23 years before moving to Florida where he was employed as Financial Manager of Brevard County Supervisor of Elections until his retirement. Jim enjoyed his family and friends, cars, and sports. He served as president of the George Washington High School Football Fan Club for many years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Barker Funeral Home, 2025 North Main St, Danville. A memorial service immediately following and interment at Highland Burial Park, 3059 N. Main/Piney Forest Rd.
