Mrs. Nancy Carol Shelton, age 56, of 38 Baldwin Street, Danville, VA, died on Friday, July 8, 2016 at her residence.

She was born on June 29, 1960, in Danville, VA, to Ruth Rebucke Morris Newman and the late Jimmie Wells.

Mrs. Shelton worked as a teacher’s assistant for Head start in Pittsylvania County and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, and daughter who cherished her grandchild. She adored all animals.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth Rebucke Morris Newman; daughter, Amber Garrett (Dustin) and her grandson, Thomas “Avery” Garrett of Providence, NC; aunts, Mae Greene (William) of Danville, VA, Edith Gowin (Emmet) of Newtown, PA, Helen Motley (David) of Danville, VA.

In addition to her father Mrs. Shelton was predeceased by her brother, Dwayne Wells.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, July 11, 2016 at Schoolfield Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Custer and Rev. Clayton Murphy officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Swicegood Funeral Home. The family will be at 20 Baldwin Street, Danville, VA at other times.
