Mr. Roy Hueston Scott, Sr., age 85, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017. 

He was born on February 9, 1932, in Caswell County, N.C., to the late James William Scott and Thalia Arnold Reynolds Scott. He married Hallie Mae Hamilton on July 14, 1951. He lived most of his life in Danville, VA.

Mr. Scott drove a truck for a number of years for Virginia-Carolina. He retired in 1980 and was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves behind three sons, Roy Hueston Scott, Jr., Edward Lee Scott, and Claude Preston Scott; one daughter, Gloria Jean Scott; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Mr. Scott was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Hallie Mae Hamilton in 1994; two sons, Dallas Wayne Scott, Sr. and James William Scott; three brothers, Jack Johnson, Rennie Stokes, and Jack McaRoy; and one sister, Vera Mae Stokes Johnson.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, April 17, 2017 at 2 pm at Floral Hills Cemetery with the Reverend John Gentry officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 16, 2017 from 6:30 until 8 pm at Swicegood Funeral Home.
