Ruth L. Isom, age 87, of 2344 Riverside Dr., Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

She was born on May 19, 1929, in Danville, VA, to the late Pearl Gentry Isom and step-father, Fred G. Isom

Mrs. Isom worked at Dan River Mills until she retired and was a member of White Oak Worship Center.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 wonderful years, Jack C. Isom; and loving children: Garry Isom and wife Shelia, Kathy Ellis and husband Ricky, Dennis Isom and wife Carla, all of Danville, VA; Carolyn Burkett and husband Earl of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren: Justin Ellis, Whitney Arwood, Caitlin Barghausen, and Jacob Burkett; great-grandchild expected on April 2; and sister, Sandra Moon and husband Jimmy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Isom was predeceased by siblings: Leonard, Jim, Melvin Isom, and Mildred Dix.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at White Oak Worship Center, 8465 US-29, Blairs, VA 24527 with Rev. Roger Ewing officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mrs. Isom’s son Garry, 322 Major Ct. Danville, VA. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care Mrs. Isom received during her stay this past year.
