Thurman Howard Eanes Sr., age 83 of Piney Forest Health Care, Danville, VA, died on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Carillion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. He has been in declining health.

He was born on October 10, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, VA, to the late Archer Thomas Eanes and Nora Keatts Eanes.

Mr. Eanes worked as a loom fixer for 48 ½ years and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his sons, James Thomas Eanes Sr. and wife Peggy and Thurman Howard Eanes Jr. all of Danville, VA; daughters, Shelby Jean Phillips and husband Charlie of NC and Shirlene Faye Elliott and husband George of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Barry Eanes, James Eanes Jr., Lorrie Brooks, Patricia Hayes, Jonathan Whisnant, Susanna Ridge, Cindy Burnett, Ricky Watt, Terri Greer, Michael Watt, and Kayce Boswell.

In addition to his parents Mr. Eanes was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Crowder Eanes; brothers, Irvin Eanes, Burton Eanes, Stuart Eanes, and J. D. Eanes; and sister, Thelma Bray.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2014 at Swicegood Funeral Home Rev. Doug Barbour and Rev. Robert Vermillian officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
