Velma D. Taylor Moore, age 73, of 572 Elizabeth Street, Danville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at her residence.

Mrs. Moore was born on September 19, 1943, in Axton, VA, a daughter of the late William Harden Taylor and Nellie Velma Bullins Taylor. She worked as a ribbon machine operator for seven years at Offrey. She was a member of Gatewood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Elisha F. Moore of the residence; a daughter, Tammy Faye Cassada (Danny), of Ringgold, VA; two granddaughters, Taylor Nicole Hendrix (Adam) of Ringgold, VA and Amber Brooke Cassada of Ringgold, VA; two sisters, Carolyn Ashworth (Don) of Axton, VA, and Teresa Barrigar (Gene) of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Alvin Taylor (Edna) of Axton, VA and Danny Taylor (Jean) of Mayodan, NC.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Franklin Moore, and three brothers, Harden Taylor, Wayne Taylor, and Ernest Taylor.

A Graveside Service will be conducted on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2:00PM in Danville Memorial Gardens with the Reverend John Gentry and the Reverend Adrian Moore officiating. The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at residence and at the home of her daughter, 4558 South Boston Road, Ringgold, VA.
