Wallace Irvin “Wally” Herndon, Jr., age 33, of Axton, VA, died on Friday, December 8, 2017, at SOVAH-Danville.

Mr. Herndon was born on March 06, 1984, in Danville, VA, a son of the late Wallace Herndon, Sr. and Karen George Rigney who survives. He lived most of his life in Axton, VA and was formerly employed at Food Lion. He attended Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church in Axton, VA.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Dennis Rigney; sister, Denise Herndon Ingram; nephews, Jacob Ingram and David Joyce; niece, Hailey Simpkins; great niece, Kiley Moore; grandmother, Evelyn Herndon; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandfather, Roy Herndon; and grandparents, Dorothy “Lizzie” and Calvin George; and step-mother, Vicki Herndon;

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Reverend Kenny Gunn officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow in the Herndon Family Cemetery, 153 Herndon Lane, Axton, VA, 24054.
