Robert "Bobby" Marshall

Robert T. “Bobby” Marshall, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.  He was born on April 20, 1928 in Pittsylvania County to the late Daniel W. Marshall and the late Cora Hamlett Marshall.  Bobby served in the United States Navy during WWII and then later served his country in the United Sates Army during the Korean Conflict.  Throughout the years, Bobby became a well known Entrepreneur with his primary interest in real estate and construction.  He was a member of Grace Design United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee.  Later in life he became a member of the American Legion Post 325 and also Veterans of Foreign War 647.  Along with his parents Bobby is preceded in death by his brother, D. Webster Marshall and his sister, Marion M. Clark.

Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Davis Marshall of the home; his son, Robert T. “Bob” Marshall, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Sutherlin, Virginia; his daughter, Dr. Patricia L. Marshall of NY, NY; his only grandchild, Casey D. Marshall and his beloved dog, “Max”.

Bobby touched many lives to include employees, extended family, tenants, customers and a multitude of friends in the Danville community.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel.  A celebration of his life will be conducted on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Grace Design United Methodist Church with Rev. Kameron Wilds, Rev. Bill Soyars, Jr., and Mayor Sherman Saunders officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park with military graveside rites preformed by the United States Army.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions may be made to Grace Design United Methodist Church, Danville Humane Society in honor of Max, or the Boys and Girls Club of Danville.
