Roy Burton Herndon, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center.  He was born on February 14, 1929 to the late Arthur and Mamie Willis Herndon.  He served his country proud in the United States Air Force.  Roy worked for DuPont and also was a Cattle and Hog Farmer.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his children, Wallace Herndon and David Herndon; brothers and sisters, Lottie Mitchell, Sanford Herndon and Willis Herndon.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 37 years, Evelyn Wilson Herndon of the home; his children, Greg Herndon and Shelia Adkins; step-son, Phillip Keatts; grandchildren, Denise Ingram, Wallace Herndon, Jr., Charles Keatts, Brian Keatts, Dwayne Keatts and Chris Keatts; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Sally Deal.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 6-8pm at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church Chapel and other times at the home.  A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church Chapel with Rev. Steve Tatum officiating.  Interment will follow in the Herndon Family Cemetery with full military honors.

The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Herndon’s honor to Calvary Holiness Church Building Fund.
