I just saw where your mom had died. She was one of my Aunt Ruby Kendrick's best friends. Ruby lived on the 2nd floor of Heritage Towers and they looked out for one another. I remember the first time I met Carolyn and I fell in love with her. She would go out to eat with us every now and then when I would come from the Outer Banks and visit Ruby. I always looked forward to seeing her and checking out what she had on. She never went any where that she was not dressed from her feet to her ears. One time she was cleaning out her shoes and we both wore the same size and she gave me 4 pairs which I still have and wear I would cook when I came and she and some of the gang would either fix a plate to take "out" or eat with us.She loved my pound cakes and fresh strawberry pies. I was in Danville one year at Christmas and she ate lunch with us and it was the best CHRISTMAS I HAD IN A LONG TIME!.WHEN I LEFT TO GO BACK TO THE MOTEL ABOUT 2 PM I DIDN'T KNOW IF I WOULD MAKE IT OR NOT. I could not get back to Heritage Towers because of snow. She called me twice a day to see if I was ok. She and Ruby divided the leftovers with others there and I was stuck with whatever the motel had. Carolyn came to my Aunt's funeral and spoke about their friendship and I will treasure that as long as I have breath. I KNOW RUBY WAS AT THOSE GOLDEN GATES WAITING FOR HER WITH A BIG GRIN ON HER FACE.I made a point of calling Carolyn several times during the year and spoke with her last shortly after Christmas. She asked when I was coming to Danville and I told her in the spring. I hope to come in either May or June and visit Heritage Towers but I dread walking in that door and she not be there waiting to see me. I know I will see her when my time comes. I loved her like an AUNT. The picture is so beautiful and I have printed it and will treasure it. God will wrap his arms around you all and give you the courage to get through the coming days.Deepest Sympathy and Much LOVE! Lynda F.Midgett, PO Box 723, Manteo, NC 27954
