Henry Edward Baynes, Jr., 70, of 416 Northmont Blvd., Danville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Born in Pittsylvania County on October 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Henry Edward Baynes, Sr. and Ollie Kate Armstrong Baynes, He was married to Bonnie G. Baynes, who survives him. He had served his country well as a member of the US Army for 27 years.
He has worked as an upholsterer of furniture and also of automobiles; working for Waller Upholstery and AP Upholstery. Mr. Baynes loved his family; he also loved his four legged friend "Lil Man" He enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Baynes is survived by a son, Anthony Michael Baynes of the home; two daughters, Belinda Durham and her husband, Michael, of Pelham, and Randi Burnette of Blairs; two sisters, Gloria Jean Adkins of Danville, and Margaret Ann Oakes of Pittsylvania County; five grandchildren, Jonathan Baynes Brooks, Kolten Durham, Arial Durham, Jackie Burnette and Nicholas Burnette.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Jonathan Edward Baynes, and a daughter, Victoria Jean Baynes.
Memorial services for Mr. Baynes will be held at Barker Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Dr. Charles B. Scearce.
