John Wayne Eanes, age 78, of 1554 Olde Hunting Trail, Danville, VA, died on September 20, 2015 at 440 W. Hightower Rd.

Mr. Eanes was born on August 24, 1937, in Martinsville, VA, to the late John Walter Eanes and Rada C. Hensley Eanes.

He worked at Miller Brewing Co. as a powerhouse operator before he retired, and he was a member of the North Danville, Church of Christ. Mr. Eanes was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy where he was a Diesel Technician.

Mr. Eanes is survived by Dorothy Eanes and step-daughter, Dale Romano; three brothers, Freddie Warren Eanes and wife Joyce of Pittsylvania County, Jimmy Davis Eanes and wife Karen of Greensboro, NC, and Ernest William Eanes and wife Nancy of Pittsylvania County, VA. ; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Eanes and Nan Hart Eanes; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Mr. Eanes was predeceased by brothers, Glenn Elwood Eanes and Robert Lee Eanes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Hersel Stone officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 6:00 p .m until 8:00 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery.
