Ray S. Lambert, age 85, of Brookwood Assistant Living, died on May 22, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 17, 1929, in Alabama, to the late Robert Fanton Lambert Sr. and Effie Jones Lambert.

Mr. Lambert was a retired postal worker, and he was a member of the Tabernacle Church in Alabama. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Koran War.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Nell Lambert of Brookwood Assistant Living and daughter, Jennifer Owens and husband Mark of Ringgold, VA; grandchildren, Channon Marie Owens Loubriel of Danville and Sondra LeAnn Owens of Ringgold; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Mr. Lambert was predeceased by his brother, Robert Fanton Lambert Jr. and sister, Gladys Lambert Gray.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Swicegood Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held after the memorial service at the home of Channon Loubriel, 211 Vicar Dr., Danville, VA.
