Rosa Mae Barley Reese of Danville, Va, died June 22, 2016 at the Stratford House, Danville, Va.

She was born October 24, 1938 in Danville, VA. Rosa was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Barley, Sr. and the late Janie Mcline Barley.

Rosa was also predeceased by one son Bill Reese Jr. (Moon), two brothers, Robert (Bubba) Lee Barley, Jr, Joseph “Sonny” Barley and one sister, Linda Dawson.

Rosa, was called by all her customers and friends (Ms. Rose). She attended John M. Langston High School and was affiliated with the class of 1958. Ms. Rose was a cook by profession and made her 1st debut at our brother “Sonny’s restaurant “Foo Foo’s”. Rosa served as head cook, grill master and manager. She worked at several other city restaurants and all of her customers followed, expecting those delicious plates and huge hamburgers.

Survivors include three sons, Tony (Bags) Ricardo Reese (Patricia Wilson) of Danville, Va, Larry Darnell Reese (Angela) of Oakland, California and Scott Anthony Reese (Paula) of Lithonia, Ga; four granddaughters, Toni Reese, Tess Reese, LaToya Anderson, all of Danville, Va. And Sierra Jones of Miami, Florida; three grandsons, Darius Reese, Tevin Gunn and Maurice Bently Gaston of Oakland, California; five sisters, Janie White of MD, Shirley Lewis, Deborah Barley, Joan Shirley all of Danville, VA and Louise Hendricks of NC; one brother, Benjamin Barley (Edna Barley) of Washington, D. C. and one very close friend, Mr. Ike Adams of Danville, Va. She also leaves fifthteen great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Barker Funeral Home Chapple 2025 North Main Street, Danville, VA with Pastor Cecil Bridgeforth, of Shiloh Baptist Church, Danville, Va. officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
