William “Bill” David Griffith, 70, of 719 Pleasanthill Drive, North Chesterfield, VA., formerly of Ringgold, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 1, 1945, in Danville, VA., he was the son of the late Jesse Raymond Griffith and Lois Worsham Griffith. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Patsy Baker and Margie Dishman, and a brother, Lawrence K. Griffith.

He leaves behind his faithful, loving wife of 49 years, Eunice Griffith;  two daughters, Leslie White (Hezekiah) of Washington, D.C. and Anne Morrisette (fiancé Fred Williams) of Ringgold, VA.; one son, Lawrence David Griffith (Cynthia) of North Chesterfield, VA.; six grandchildren, Ryan Griffith (Catie), Laura Griffith, Alexis Morrisette, Michael Griffith, Sarah Williams, and Benjamin Griffith; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Willa Griffith; two brothers, Gene R. Griffith (Lorraine) of Danville, VA. and Donald P. Griffith (Kathy) of Eagle River, AK; and two sisters, Elaine Lea of Danville, VA. and Rebecca Lustig (Michael) of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 33 years from Goodyear Tire Company as an electrician.  In his earlier years, he coached several baseball teams and assisted with many other sport teams.  He served as a Cub Scout leader for many years.  He enjoyed birds, racing, bluegrass music, and watching Navy football, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his true joy.  His greatest accomplishments were being a wonderful father and grandfather.

Visitation will be held Friday 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., September 18, 2015 at Swicegood Funeral Home and other times at the home of daughter, Anne Morrisette, 2390 Ringgold Church Road, Ringgold. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., September 19, 2015 with Pastor Joey Bray officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breath Matters, PO Box 73418, North Chesterfield, VA. 23235. Memorial donations may also be made to the Autism Society of Virginia, 200 South 3rd Street, Richmond, VA. 23219.
