Helen Bernell “Nell” Cross McDaniel, age 88, the daughter of Bennie C. Cross and Mary Helen Hardy Cross, passed away on May 9, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence G. McDaniel and one brother, Bennie Millard Cross. She is survived by one son, Timothy Wayne McDaniel of Eden, NC; one sister, Dorothy Soyars Haley Wilson, of Garden Grove, Danville, VA.

She spent most of her life in the Cascade Community and was a member of Willis Memorial Baptist Church where she served on various committees, including Sunday School teacher, Nominating Committee and Homecoming Committee. She had 17 years of perfect attendance. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills with 50 years of service. She went to work at age 18 and worked unti she was 68 years old. She attended Cascade School and graduated from Brosville High School.   

A Graveside Service will be conducted on Thursday May 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Danville Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Wayne Mayberry and the Reverend Haywood Alcorn officiating. The family will receive friends after the service and at other times the family will be at the residence, 3037 Huntington Trail, Cascade, VA, 24069.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
