Vivian Haynes Durham, 96, of Eden, NC, formerly of Pelham, NC, died peacefully on February 20, 2017.

Mrs. Durham was born on Nov 4, 1920, in Chatham, VA .She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles V. Haynes and Eva Mae Haynes, and two sisters and one brother and 3 half- sisters, as well as her first husband James Reuben Scott and her second husband Joseph Perkins Durham.

She retired from Dan River Mills and was a member of the Hickory Grove Methodist Church. She spent most of her life in the Stokesland and Pelham Community.

She was blessed with a long life, filling the days of her later years reading, playing cards and watching TV.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Durham Madren (Tom) of Tappahannock,VA and Susan Durham Strader(Dwain) of Reidsville, NC; Four grandchildren, Justin Madren of Aylett, VA, Joseph Madren of Monterey, CA, Amy Strader Andrews of Winterville, NC, and Jordan Strader of Reidsville, NC; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 3pm at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Eggers officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at Swicegood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bayberry Retirement Inn for the wonderful and loving care given to Vivian the last five years of her life. She was very much “at home” at Bayberry.
