Annie Meeks Barber, age 95, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Roman Eagle Health & Rehab Center.   Born in Rockingham County, NC on December 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Woodson Meeks and Daisy May Harris Meeks.  She was married to Morton J. Barber who predeceased her in 1987.  She was a member of Malmaison Primitive Baptist Church and Embroiderers Guild of America.  She had worked in the weave room of Dan River, Inc. off and on for 35 years.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kate Janice Barber.

Mrs. Barber is survived by her daughter, Gloria Dale Robertson of Danville, and her son, John Barber of Richmond, VA.   Also surviving is a sister, Ivadell  Moulder of Cherryville, NC;  seven grandchildren, Andrea Newton, David Robertson, Desmon Touchstone, Jonathan Dobson, and Stephanie Hunt all  of Danville;   Joshua Barber of Richmond, VA, and Adam Barber of Portland, OR,  and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barber will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel  with Elder Jimmy Gray officiating.   Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at Barker Funeral Home Chapel one hour prior to the service.
