Mr. Curtis LeMan Pate, Sr., age 89, of 163 Rosewood Lane, Danville, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2016, at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, NC .

He was born on September 13,1927 in Erwin, NC, to the late McIver John Pate and Ruth Leggett Pate.

Mr. Pate worked at Dan River, Inc. before his retirement, and he was a member of Stokesland United Methodist Church. He earned his Associates Degree at Johnston Technical Institute. Mr. Pate was a Sunday School teacher and served various church committees. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Pate was a loving father of five children.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Pate of the residence; children: Candace Hall of Greensboro, NC; Mary McClelland (Robert) of Tampa, FL; Curtis Pate, Jr; of the residence; Penelope Marlowe of Scottsburg, VA.; Grandchildren: Wade Hall (Helen); David Hall (Louise); Robert McClelland IV; Alex Greene, Roberta Greene, Amy Greene, Wendy Pate, Madeline Marlowe, Samantha Marlowe, Natalie Marlowe; Brother-in-law Bob McNeill; Four great-grandchildren; and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to his parents Mr. Pate was predeceased by his Son, John Pate; two brothers and three sisters.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Elizabeth Nordan officiating. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 163 Rosewood Lane, Danville, VA. Interment will follow at a later date.
