Mr. Ernest Henry Hairston, age 66, of 308 Gardner Street, Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Hairston was born on May 5, 1950, in Eden, NC, to Ruth Ann DeJournette and the late Ernest Edgar Hairston. On May 24, 1993 he joined in marriage, the love of his life, Yvette Poole Hairston

Mr. Hairston worked in the textile industry and was a member of the Blue Stone Baptist Church. He was a graduate from Booker T. Washington high school in Reidsville, NC and he enjoyed watching the Redskins play football. He loved spending time with his family and he never missed a day of calling his mother.

Mr. Hairston is survived by his loving wife Yvette Poole Hairston of the home; his mother, Ruth Ann DeJournette; step-children, Katina Poole-Berry of Richmond, VA, Dexter D. Lipford, III (Shanice) of Danville, VA, Devon Hunter of Washington, DC, and Brian King of Danville, VA; special nephew, Cordney Griggs of Eden, NC; special niece, Donna Covington of Eden, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; siblings, Vickie Hairston of Reidsville, NC, Wanda Griggs (Donald) of Eden, NC; brother-in-law, John Galloway; and best friend, Kevin Williams.

In addition to his father Mr. Hairston was preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl Mae Galloway.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 21, 2017at 2pm at Blue Stone Baptist Church with Reverend Roy Dennis officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 2017 from 6pm until 8pm at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Blue Stone Baptist Church Cemetery, 9892 NC 700, Pelham, NC 27311.
