James “Jimmy” Richard Moore Jr., 72, of 219 Ash Street, passed away on November 9, 2017, at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke Virginia, after a decline in health the past two years.

 Born on August 4, 1945, in Danville, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Richard Moore and Alma Hanks Moore. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Thorton, Evelyn Abbott, and Carolyn Hendley.

 Jimmy worked on aluminum siding in his earlier years and was married for 18 years to Shirley Jane Moore of Danville.

 He leaves behind a son, James Richard Moore III and wife, Kim Moore from Colorado; a son, Rodney Keith Moore; and a daughter, Sharon Moore Jennings from Danville. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, James Richard Moore IV, Brooklynn Paige Shore, Logan Reed Jennings, and Lindsey Blake Jennings; along with his best friend and caregiver, Bob Mitchell.

The arrangements will be a cremation at the Swicegood Funeral Home with interment at his mother’s plot in Highland Burial Park, Danville, Va. at a later date to be announced by the family.
