I am deeply saddened and in shock about Kelley’s passing. I had the opportunity to volunteer with her back in the day at Halifax County Rescue Squad and later worked with her at Regional One. One heck of a good Medic. We also were roommates at the EMS symposium and I had a blast hanging out with her that week. We lost a true hero when we lost her. She was selfless and gave her life to saving others. I am forever great full our paths crossed. My prayers are with Mike, Kali and all the family. God Bless.

Kelley and I met as volunteers at Halifax Regional Hospital in our teens. I was a hurting Mennonite girl who felt like a misfit. She was a vivacious blonde....beautiful and unaware of her beauty. She was fun, smart and had dreams of being an EMT. We became best friends. Years go by....lives continue and we lost contact. We found each other via fb some years ago and stayed in touch that way. She made her dreams come true. I wish we could have spent more time together as moms, community helpers.... She has always inspired me to be true to who I am. Her loss is devastating! I will always be grateful for her friendship and the strength she gave me those many years ago. I am who I am today largely due to a spunky blonde who would not let anyone speak unkindly to me, who made me laugh, who told me never take crap from anyone and fight for my dreams. Kelley, you have always been one to fight for others and it has been beautiful to see over fb how many you have touched. I will write to your mom and your daughter one day....tell them what you did for me. And for your friends.....you have so many!..... We all have our story of the Kelley we know... the warrior, the mom, the wife, the helper, the humor, the sheer determination to be purposeful and true! Heaven got one STRONG angel.... I hope they are ready. I love you sweet friend. And my heart feels so much today for all of us who have loved you and continue to love you. ❤
