Reverend Monroe Spencer Horne, age 89, of 2608 19th Avenue, Valley Alabama, passed away on August 31, 2016 at his home. He had been in declining health for a few years.
Rev. Horne was born on November 11, 1926, in Washington County, Virginia, to the late David Vance Horne and Mamie Ingalls Horne.
He served as a Church of God Minister until his retirement. He served churches in Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, Alabama and many other areas. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.
Rev. Horne is survived by his loving wife Ruth Naomi Horne of the home; children, Betty Arnold (RC) of Danville, Virginia, Betty Horne of Kentucky, and Audrey “Ike” Hackworth (Greg) of Kentucky, Kathy Hattaway (Jimmy), Tajuana Lowery (Joe), and Terry Harrelson, all of Alabama; two brothers, Frank Horne of Danville and Floyd Horne of Tennessee; one sister, Maggie Goodman of Danville; twenty three Grandchildren; and thirty three Great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Rev. Horne was predeceased by his first wife, Ella Mae Harris Horne; two daughters, Sandra Louise Horne and Elaine Morrow; brother, Thomas Horne; sister, Pauline Beame.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Central Boulevard Church of God, 235 Hairston Street, Danville, VA 24540
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Central Boulevard Church of God at 3pm with Reverend Aaron Hackworth and Reverend John Meadows officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Central Boulevard Church of God at 7pm until 8:30pm. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park, Danville, Virginia.
